[BR016] : Daniell Spencer featuring Downtown - Deep Freak (in me) including remixes by Aruba, Llorca, Fries & Bridges, David Duriez [2019 Remastered]

by Daniell Spencer featuring Downtown

I met Daniell Spencer when he was releasing music on Afterhours and he was a friend of Mazi whom i was working with.

Daniell quickly joined forces on the Housemuziq list and started contributing from Chicago. Quickly after he sent me this track and it was just the right moment as i was looking for a long deep funky vocal track that could be remixed by Ludo Llorca. So when i listened to the vocal the first time i knew it was it !

Ironically enough the release did become famous not for the Llorca mixes (which are delightfulls) but for Darran Nugent's Aruba Mix with its prominent disco clap and irresistible bassline. Darran also uses the vocal in a very clever way and gives it its real importance. This remix is sooo good i played it for years and even still today i love to listen and dance to it !

Later that year 2001, we released a remixes 12" (BR016REV) with an unreleased Llorca mix and a massive Phil Weeks & Hector Morales Robsoul version as Fries & Bridges. Those two extra mixes compliment nicely the whole package.

Then another couple of mixes came later in 2002 for the Miami Winter music conference. First an Aruba unreleased mix at that time, not used for the previous releases, and an edit mix i did of the Aruba Can't Stop Freakin Mix. They were both pressed on vinyl for the Secret Gems From The Vault 12" series on Brique Rouge.

This is the first time ever all the available mixes of DEEP FREAK (in me) are featured all together.

They are all exclusively remastered for the label 20th anniversary on Bandcamp
